Design driven by discovery
Liberty was founded in 1875 by the adventurous Arthur Lasenby Liberty, whose creative legacy inspires their prints, fabrics and design to this day. Liberty is closely linked to the world of arts and culture and is committed to seeking out the new and the beautiful.
The company still occupies its flagship Regent Street store in London, with six floors of fashion, beauty, childrenswear, accessories, homewares and crafting, alongside some of the world’s leading premium and luxury brands. If you’re in the capital, it’s well worth a visit!
All of Liberty’s iconic prints and patterns are printed at their Italian textile mill located between Milan and the banks of Lake Como. The mill uses both traditional screen-printing methods and pioneering digital technology to illustrate Liberty’s intricate designs. Millions of metres of fabric are printed here every year, going through printing, steaming, washing and softening processes. After being thoroughly checked by professional technologists, the fabric is cut and shipped internationally.
Lasenby cotton: the perfect quilting base
This versatile fabric is designed with crafters in mind. Named after Liberty’s founder, Lasenby fabric is made from 100% cotton and decorated with smaller, conversational patterns that suit a range of creative projects for your home.
Designs from our Lasenby cotton range are produced using traditional screen-printing techniques to infuse the material with rich tones that bring Liberty’s vibrant, painterly designs to life. The designs created by the in-house studio are enchanting and timeless.
Lasenby cotton is slightly heavier than Liberty’s Tana Lawn™ cotton: at 146 grams per square metre, it’s stable and ideal for quilting. Emily Belle
Emily Belle, Emily Annabelle and Wiltshire Shadow are Liberty’s popular blender fabrics. These best-selling cottons are available all year round and they’re designed to complement Liberty’s seasonal collections.
Emily Belle is a dreamy design that celebrates garden botanicals, such as daisies, marguerites, peonies and cornflowers. This collection is curated to effortlessly coordinate with a wide variety of Liberty prints, as it’s designed to reflect their signature colour palette.
Delicately outlined flowers are arranged over a coloured ground, creating a classic fabric design that would suit a wide array of craft projects. Emily Belle is available in an array of jewel-like hues from warm tangerine to rich claret, so there’s a shade for every project.
The collection is screen-printed onto Liberty’s Lasenby cotton, so it’s ideal for your next quilt.
Emily Annabelle
Emily Annabelle is a vibrant interpretation of the Emily Belle design, available in ten different colourways. Brightly hued daisies, marguerites, peonies and cornflowers are reimagined in vivid shades on a plain and cream background.
This versatile collection pairs effortlessly with a wide range of Liberty prints and is screen-printed on the same high-quality Lasenby cotton.
Wiltshire Shadow
The Wiltshire Shadow design has a long history – it was first created for Liberty Fabrics in 1933. Liberty has reimagined this classic print as a two-colour shadow silhouette, making it the perfect fabric blender for all your quilts.
The tonal leaf and berry design coordinates well with Liberty’s vast archive of prints and is available in a multitude of colourways.

Fabric requirements
Here are the fabric amounts required to make all the blocks and assemble the quilt in our Liberty Quilt-along using Liberty’s Emily Annabelle, Emily Belle and Wiltshire Shadow.
Week 1
Piece together half-square triangles in different sizes to make this pleasing geometric T-block. Pair fabrics in complementary shades to achieve a balanced block.
Week 2
This vividly coloured block resembles a flower in bloom. Liberty’s Emily Annabelle fabric is the star of the show, blending perfectly with patches of Emily Belle fabric.
Week 3
Create sharp angles and neat seams to stitch this eye-catching vintage His Wedding Ring block. Floral triangles surround a central motif in the shape of an octagon.
Week 4
Use accurate FPP templates to create a sky full of Flying Geese crossing paths and joining it with its diagonal neighbouring blocks.
Week 5
Pair Nine-patch units with a coordinating floral border to make this pretty block design in blues, pinks and purples.
Week 6
There’s no tricky maths in this pretty block, just templates and Y-seams to bring together squares, trapeziums and parallelograms.
Week 7
Combine a selection of Liberty fabrics to make this triangle-patterned Hers Wedding Ring block. The colours complement each other perfectly.
