Make a geometric quilted cushion

Give your home a contemporary colour pop with modern geo quilting.

Picture the scene: you’ve had a huge clear out and a series of charity shop drop-offs. You should be elated, but now your home looks slightly too minimal… It’s missing something. This cushion is the solution. Subtle enough to fit seamlessly into a pared-back space, the fresh lines and colour make it an amazing update. And, whole cloth quilting is where cushions are heading right now. This straightforward technique works modern geometric quilting on a single coloured fabric. We’re big fans as there are no prints to deliberate over, and far less fiddly cutting out to do, but your pals will still ooh over its impressive finish.

You will need:

• 1m (1yd) cotton solid fabric in a pastel shade (we used Robert Kaufman Kona in Pond) • 45 x 45cm (17 x 17″) lining fabric • 45 x 45cm (17 x 17″) wadding • Erasable fabric marker • Rotary cutter • Masking tape • Quilting clips • 40cm (16″) cushion pad
